About Retrofit Raceworks
Born and raised in Ridgecrest, California - Hyles Hersley grew up racing motocross before being formally introduced to the world of off-road racing at 15, when he met Richard Boyle and went to work at his tire shop. Not long after, Hyles cut his teeth helping Kory Halopoff prep Class 1 race cars and became a co-driver, gaining valuable hands-on experience in high-level desert racing.
By 2012, Hyles was fully running Richard’s race program, alongside building and maintaining his own race cars, a spec truck, prerunners, and sand cars. He later went on to build and campaign a Class 5 Unlimited race car for a full season, spending countless miles racing in Mexico and stateside with Richard and Tommy Kirkmeyer.
After Richard Boyle passed in 2015, Hyles stepped back from racing and focused on fabrication - designing and building parts and full chassis for friends and fellow racers in the industry. By 2018, he had built a UTV and returned to competition - expanding into race prep, logistics, and pit support for teams racing both in Mexico and across the U.S., including Miller Brothers Racing (now with CanAm), Lakeside Auto, Quantum Racing, and RISQ Racing.
Today, Hyles has moved full-scale into production with his own line of fabricated and billet parts — all designed, manufactured, built and tested right here in Ridgecrest, California.
